Mersenne donates 12 months’ rent free to Food Bank

Oswestry Food Bank

At Mersenne we feel it is important to help our occupiers and work with them whenever we can.

For landlords wishing to donate to charitable causes a direct ‘rental donation’ can be a huge help towards offsetting a charity’s fixed costs. This is particularly true at the current time, where the cost-of-living crisis has put pressure on the cashflows of all organisations, large and small.

Oswestry and Borders Foodbank lease a unit on our Radfords Field Industrial Estate in Oswestry. The unit provides an important hub to receive grocery orders and food donations to sort and send out to vulnerable members of the local community. The work is relentless and with the current economic climate demand for their services is unprecedented, so Mersenne decided to donate back 12 months rental to the foodbank as a contribution towards their important local causes.

We call on all landlords in similar situations to consider making a contribution like this.

“Mersenne is thrilled to have been able to help a local and much needed charity to assist in freeing up some of their fixed costs to re-distribute into purchasing fresh vegetables, eggs and butchers’ vouchers. Store cupboard essentials are vitally important but healthy fresh food should not be a luxury, especially when feeding hard working families”.
Richard Laing, MD, Mersenne Properties.

Since March 2020 the Oswestry and Borders Foodbank has given away 120 tonnes of food and helped over 11,000 people.
