The origins of Mersenne date back to 1996 when our founder started Prime plc, (www.primeplc.com) which became the UK’s leading healthcare developer, having delivered well over 100 projects worth over £1billion across the UK and Ireland.
Mersenne was established as an entirely separate company in 2014. Initially purely focussed on building up a commercial investment portfolio, but with a background in development, we soon found that there was a gap in the market to provide development funding for the rapidly growing drive-thru and convenience store sectors.
Our first project was a Waitrose convenience store in Bromsgrove, closely followed by a Costa drive-thru in Peterborough…and the rest is history! See our case studies here.
People often ask where the name Mersenne came from. The answer is there is a Prime Number association with all the companies our founder started:
Prime Not only a Prime Number, this brand name was chosen due to its association with primary healthcare, which is the sector within which GP Surgery projects sit.
Mersenne is a rare form of prime number named after Marin Mersenne, a French friar from the 17th century.
Marrakushi (one of our investment funds) was a Moroccan mathematician of the 13th century also associated with early writings on prime numbers.
